For a source with a large number of counts in a long observation it is sometimes useful to study its spectrum as a function of time. This is done by extracting the spectrum within specified time intervals. To determine the time intervals available run timfilter (see Section 8.4):
xt> timfilter xdata$rp110590n00.qp Ouput Time Filter list (): arlac Reading from Qpoe file: xdata$rp110590n00.qp Writing to Time Filter list: arlac.lis Good Time Intervals start end duration 1606720.00 1607479.00 759.00 1611613.00 1612817.00 1204.00
qpspec can be run on the input qpoe file using times within these ranges
xs> qpspec source qpoe file (xdata$rp110590n00.qp): xdata$rp110590n00.qp[time=(1606720.00:1607479.00)] source region descriptor ():c 6947 9325 2' background qpoe file ( ): bkgd region descriptor (): a 6947 9325 3' 4' root name for output files [root_obs.tab, etc.] (): arlac_1 ds: 0 file: arlac_1_obs.tab scale: 0.00 mission: 20 seqno: CA110590P.N6 instrument: ROSAT_PSPC sub-instrument: 1 no. pha channels: 34 mean off-axis angle of events (arcmin): 16.39 radius (arcmin): 2.00 filter: 0 livetime (sec): 728.84 x, y: 6947.00, 9325.00 livetime corr: 0.96 src area (sq. pix.): 180905.00 cts_tot (count): 54.00 129.00 264.00 324.00 315.00 495.00 329.00 252.00 198.00 108.00 76.00 82.00 105.00 108.00 153.00 244.00 259.00 273.00 312.00 259.00 249.00 193.00 128.00 109.00 107.00 70.00 62.00 35.00 22.00 16.00 9.00 5.00 6.00 0.00 bkgd area (sq. pix.): 316676.00 ccts_bkg (count): 0.22 0.00 0.66 0.44 0.22 0.66 0.88 0.66 0.66 0.22 0.44 1.10 0.44 0.44 0.44 0.66 0.22 0.22 1.10 1.10 0.22 0.66 0.44 0.66 0.44 0.22 0.00 0.44 0.44 0.00 0.00 0.44 0.00 0.00 net (count): 53.78 129.00 263.34 323.56 314.78 494.34 328.12 251.34 197.34 107.78 75.56 80.90 104.56 107.56 152.56 243.34 258.78 272.78 310.90 257.90 248.78 192.34 127.56 108.34 106.56 69.78 62.00 34.56 21.56 16.00 9.00 4.56 6.00 0.00 neterr (count): 8.41 12.40 17.28 19.03 18.78 23.27 19.17 16.91 15.11 11.44 9.78 10.12 11.30 11.44 13.41 16.66 17.12 17.55 18.70 17.13 16.81 14.93 12.36 11.49 11.40 9.43 8.93 7.00 5.80 5.11 4.14 3.45 3.62 1.91 Output table file(s): arlac_1_obs.tab, arlac_1_soh.tab, arlac_1_boh.tab xs>
